Swansea Bay Summer 5k Series is back! After a long, very long break due to the Pandemic, we were absolutely delighted to hold the series for the first time in two years! The event did not go without some hiccups and teething problems along the way, thank you to one and all who walked with us to take part in the first series on the 11th of May – thank you!

Massive thank you to Nigel Jones and Fran Thomas for their support, there is no doubt that the event would not have happened without them and to Donna Smallbones, PPRC Volunteer Co-ordinator and all the PPRC Volunteers and Mario’s Martians aka Marshalls, who consistently go over and above! Thank you to Megan Bivens our unofficial official club photographer!

Thanks to Welsh Athletics and volunteer officials, for timing the event. And to last-minute sponsors Total Sound Solutions for donating the PA, LC for Junior prices, Falck for first aid cover and Verdis for sponsoring the trophies.

And to the winners and those all-important results! Absolutely fantastic to see clubs from across Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot joining in the fun – 3M Gorseinon Road Runners, Bridgend AC, Celtic Tri, Clwb Run Wales, Ferry Flatliners, Les Croupiers, Llanelli AC, Ogmore Phoenix, Swansea Harriers and Tri-hard Harriers.

Swansea Bay Summer 5k Series and Fun Run


If you have already registered online – Thank you. If you want to register online please register before 5pm on the 8th May 2019. If you have missed the online registration and/or want to register on the night then please make sure you register for the Fun Run by 5.45pm, registration will open at 5pm and close at 5.45pm for the Fun Run and registration for the 5k series will open at 6pm and close by 6.45pm. In the meantime here is the information you will need for race night.

Race Dates Thursday 9th May 2019 Thursday 13th June 2019 Thursday 11th July 2019

6pm – Swansea Bay Fun Run The children’s fun run starts at 6pm prompt from SEVEN (360 Beach and Water Sports). Registration opens at 5pm and will close at 5.45pm. Please head to the clubroom when you arrive to collect a race number. Please bring confirmation of your online payment. The Fun Run starts and finishes at SEVEN (360 Beach and Water Sports). The 1k route takes you along the seafront and turns just before you turn onto the cycle path opposite the University, to come back along the same path. The 2.5k route takes you towards the Golf Course and turns around at the golf course to come back along the same route. Each child-taking place in the fun run will receive a certificate of completion, burger and a soft drink and sweets.

7pm – Swansea Bay Summer 5k Series The main 5k race will start at 7pm prompt from SEVEN (360 Beach and Water Sports). Registration opens at 6pm to collect your race number and closes at 6.45pm. If you have paid on-line please bring confirmation of your payment with you. The race starts and finishes at SEVEN (360 Beach and Water Sports). The route takes you towards SA1 Marina where you will turn around at the little park area and head back along the same route. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for Male, Female and Junior, which will be presented on the night Results will be available at All entrants will receive a goodie bag, burger and a beer post race.

General Information The route will be marshalled and there will be signs up to warn the general public that there is a race on – however – we would also ask you to bear in mind that the race does not have a right of way and that you respect the general public, that you are mindful of your own safety and be aware of any cyclists on the path and that you keep to the right-hand side to avoid collisions with oncoming athletes.

There is limited parking at SEVEN however there is plenty of parking in the streets opposite the area and also in the recreational area.

SEVEN is still under construction and currently will not be open for the May event; therefore the catering is outside and consists of a BBQ and a Bar both supplied by SEVEN. After the race, you can collect your burger and a beer or soft drink from the outside BBQ and Bar area, please show your race number to collect.

Unfortunately, due to limited resources, there will be NO kids beach activities for the May event.

There are limited portable outside toilets for you to use.

Any belongings left at the event will be left at your own risk.
