The club started in February 2016 with the aim of helping all people in Swansea to learn to run for life by recruiting people who wanted to run, teaching them to run from zero to a 5k over an 8 week period, at the end of this the runners would take part in the Swansea Bay 5k Park Run and then aim to continue their running journey with other clubs in the area. Since the very first 8 week program, the athletes have stayed with the club, and we now have 6 groups to cater for all abilities, supporting our members continued improvement of their running fitness to take part in 10k’s, half marathons, marathons and triathlons.
There are two types of journeys a club runner can take with the club as follows.
Beginner – Zero Running
These currently do not run, they may have run in the past or never run but currently, they have no running fitness. They may take part in some physical activity but generally, it is very limited. These will start on one of our 5 Programs throughout the year. Each program is either 8 to 9 weeks with them either taking part in the Park Run at the end or taking part in the clubs end of program timed 5k. Once completed they will have a time they can run a 5k and that time is used to decide which group they move into for the next program. During their first program, they pay nothing, once they go onto the next program they pay the annual membership fee £35.
Runner – can run a 5k minimum
These are runners and will currently be able to run a 5k. They can join the club at any time at the start or during a program. They will let us know what time they can take part in a 5k and this will help us decide which group they go into to start. They complete their sessions until the end of the program. They too will take part in a timed 5k or 10k. Their time for this race will determine which group they go in for their next program. They pay nothing for their first 3 sessions. After which they pay the annual joining fee £35.
These are runners who are visiting the area, on holiday, working for a short time or a member of another club and want to come along for a session. They will pay £3 per session
CLUB AGE LIMIT

PPRC FAMILY & SOCIAL
At the end of every program, we have a social night out and a fun session where the whole club tales part. So everyone gets to meet everyone in the club creating that family feel. At the end of the year, we have our ‘Annual Christmas Award Ceremony’ where members nominate and vote for their running buddies to win a number of awards and some fun ones so everyone has an opportunity to be part of the ceremony.
